Exhibition Opening: Paresha Amin

Paresha Amin

Inhabiting an urban place, the landscapes in my paintings are a longing for nature that I have not experienced.

These depict combinations of real landscapes that I have encountered and imaginary landscapes that exist in my mind. They are an amalgamation of scenes that I have come across in films, magazines, alighted upon whilst walking and imagined whilst reading books and poetry, rather than strictly observed landscapes. They depict an ‘in-between’ place, a place that could exist between the real and the imagined, and a place where the action of painting takes me. These artworks interrogate the relationship between the liminal places of memory, nature and fantasy with the material world of paint and colour.
