LIVE music coming up at Green Rooms!
It's another action-packed month here with several bands and acts entertaining Green Rooms guests and visitors on the weekends in our bar. All welcome and free entry!
This Friday we have Fancy Junket! A jazz/pop duo from the South of France. 6pm-10pm.
And then coming up soon it's Akimbo - LIVE on the 22nd June, another fantastic duo. We asked their lead singer Nell Greco to describe the act and she said:
"Akimbo is all askew. It's messing with pop, playing with jazz, and finding space in time. Created from a love of complex simplicity, angular harmony and serious fun. We're inspired by the likes of Tom Waits, The Dirty Three, Eva Cassidy andBill Frisell, Akimbo play the music they love, whether original or covered, and are ever in flux"
FANCY JUNKET - Playing here on Friday 15th June
AKIMBO - Coming to Green Rooms on Friday 22nd June.

New Exhibition: Lou Hazelwood - To Stain
Come and see works at Green Rooms by Lou Hazelwood. Showing now every day throughout May, these striking images have a lot going on - including - brace yourselves - a contribution from Lou's cat, as he explains here:
"In this work I was really interested in how the chemical deterioration of analogue film and prints looks and how this has an impact on how we make an image, a memory. These images are chemically stained. Two are chemically stained prints and the others are chemically stained 35mm colour film. The films were put through different chemicals prior to been processed such as bleach, caustic soda & black leather dye and through a wash in the washing machine. They were experiments and have had unique impacts on the structure of the film and created the abstracted images seen"
"The chemically stained prints were more of a happy accident, although that wasn’t my first reaction! One of my cats peed on the prints whilst they were laid out for editing. It was only after the initial ‘arrrgghh’ moment that I dried the prints off and re-looked at them, saw how interesting they were and they have become part of this series of works. So they are perhaps what you would call naturally chemically stained… "
You can listen to an audio/podcast about Lou's recent exhibition in Hull, including some of the same works and similar themes and practicses:https://audioboom.com/posts/6441523-artist-lou-hazelwood-at-hip-gallery

2018 Food Trend: West African Cuisine
London food bloggers are getting into West African Cuisine!
Our next restaurant here at Green Rooms, as part of our revolving residency scheme, is Tokunbo's Kitchen. Global food trend consultancy firm, The Food People, estimates dishes from countries like Senegal and Nigeria could be the next big food trend and the "last great untapped cuisine" and so BBC Africa came and interviewed head chef Tokunbo Koiki.
The video has already racked up 190,000 views and so we're delighted to have Tokunbo all to ourselves when she opens on January 15th here serving dinner and lunch from Sundays through until Thursdays.
Watch the video here, and we'll be posting our new menu and restaurant info shortly.
